Chemical Semantics is looking for a Software Developer in Gainesville, FL. Chemical Semantics is applying the semantic web to chemical data, beginning with the data created by computational chemistry packages such as those of quantum chemistry that produce ab-initio results – wave functions, energies, chemical properties, etc. We are creating portals where this data can be published and searched via SPARQL queries. In conjunction with this portal, we are creating an ontology for computational chemistry. While we are beginning with quantum chemistry data, we expect to expand to related experimental data and eventually data from other disciplines of chemistry, physics, and biology.
Our present portals use ASP.NET MVC4 and C# and finding programmers with such .NET experience is our primary goal although we will also consider talented programmers having experience with the Semantic Web, Java, Web Services, Javascript, XML, JSON, and other web technologies. Our location is laid-back Gainesville, FL, home to the University of Florida, with a low cost of living. We prefer those with a Masters or Ph.D. degree (possibly a post-doc) but will consider all talented software developers with a specific background or interest in the semantic web and related technologies. We prefer to find scientists with professional programming skills or computer scientists with some knowledge and interest in computational science.
